I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Carthage College in 1999. Following graduation, I substitute taught in the Kenosha Unified School District for one year. I then secured a 5th grade job in Cudahy, Wisconsin where I taught for 3 years. Following that, I decided I wanted to invest in a start-up school in Phoenix, Arizona. I taught 3rd grade there for 3 years and ultimately decided in 2006 that Wisconsin was where I belonged. Forest Glen became my new home and I taught 4th grade for 10 years. In 2009, I decided to go back to school for my Master's Degree. I earned my degree in Reading from Concordia University. I am a Certified 316 Reading Teacher. In 2015, I decided to change grade levels and move to 1st grade and I absolutely LOVE it!!!
I was born and raised in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. It's a wonderful area about 10 minutes from the Illinois border. My parents still live there in my childhood home. I have two older sisters. Wendy lives in Neenah, WI with her husband and two children. She is a 5th grade teacher so we are like two peas in a pod!! Jen lives in Florida with her husband and son. I also have one younger brother, Matthew, who lives in Kenosha. I enjoy spending time with my family. My niece (Senah) and nephews (Ethan and Lucas) are like my own children. I love being a part of their lives in every way. I am married to a wonderful husband named Ray. My favorite summer activity is reading. I cannot get enough of it. This summer I got hooked on mystery books and found myself reading until the wee hours of the night! I did a bit of traveling this summer as well. I went to Florida with my niece to visit my sister for a week and I also enjoyed a mini trip to The Dells with my husband and extended family. I love teaching and feel very fortunate to have the chance to work with so many wonderful young people. I'm looking forward to an amazing year!! |
